Egon Schiele is one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century. Although he died at the age of just 28, he left behind an exceptionally extensive body of work. It consists of approximately 300 paintings and more than 3,000 drawings and works on paper. Schiele was fascinated by the human body, face, gestures, inner tension of a person, but also by the city itself. Krumlov attracted him with its raw beauty, the irregularity of old houses, the view of the city from above and the atmosphere that later appeared in his paintings.
He was brought to Český Krumlov by a personal bond and strong inspiration. His mother was from there and Schiele repeatedly returned to the place that awakened his imagination and the need to create. In 1911, he lived here with his girlfriend and muse Wally Neuzil, in this garden house on a terraced slope above the Vltava River. Krumlov attracted him with its raw beauty, the irregularity of the old houses, the view of the city
from the height and atmosphere that later appeared in his paintings.

We are now offering the opportunity to stay in the house that is connected to Egon Schiele's Krumlov story. Visitors can experience an environment where art, history, flower gardens and the atmosphere of the early 20th century naturally blend into one exceptional whole.
The main room is furnished with furniture designed by Egon Schiele himself, reminiscent of the time when the young artist lived and worked here. In the attic, there is a unique Art Nouveau room with rare furniture, brass details and Schiele paintings, which offers views of the flower gardens. These are constantly changing throughout the year, creating a different atmosphere in each season.

In the summer months, the Egon Schiele Atelier opens to the public as a place where visitors can see an authentic room associated with Egon Schiele's stay and also visit the unique attic, which preserves the atmosphere of the time when the young artist lived and created here.
The Atelier also includes a summer café open daily throughout the season. It offers quality and local products, carefully selected to complement the character of this exceptional place. In the peaceful surroundings of the gardens and terraces, visitors can enjoy a coffee, homemade snacks or a glass of wine with a view of the river and historic Český Krumlov.
The Egon Schiele Atelier is not just a gallery or a café. It is a space where you can slow down for a moment, perceive the beauty of the surroundings, and experience Krumlov from a different, quieter, and more personal perspective.
